WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice that supports the body’s natural ability to relax and rebalance. Originating in Japan, Reiki is based on the understanding that the body is deeply influenced by stress, emotional strain, and energetic tension. When we’re overwhelmed or stretched thin, our systems can feel out of sync. Reiki offers a calming space for the mind and body to settle, soften, and realign.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner uses light touch or hands-off techniques to encourage a sense of ease and openness within the client’s energy field. You remain fully clothed and comfortable throughout the process. Many people describe Reiki as deeply peaceful—sometimes warm, sometimes tingly, sometimes simply quiet. The experience is unique to each person, and there is no right or wrong way to feel.

Reiki is not a replacement for medical care, nor is it a diagnostic or clinical treatment. Instead, it serves as a supportive, complementary practice that focuses on relaxation, grounding, and energetic balance.

About Me

I’m Ali, the founder of Transcend Revival. My path began long before my business existed—rooted in a lifelong curiosity about people, healing, and the incredible ways we adapt. I studied psychology at Kean University in New Jersey because I’ve always been fascinated by how people think, feel, and connect. That curiosity led me to the University of New England, where I completed my Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and began my journey of supporting individuals through life’s most challenging seasons.

Eight years ago, I felt a strong pull to Maine—the only place I’ve ever lived where the sea, the woods, the mountains, and the lakes all feel within reach at the same time. Being surrounded by nature has shaped not just my life, but my therapeutic perspective. In the summer, you’ll usually find me barefoot, soaking in the earth, touching trees, and grounding myself in the steady presence of the natural world. It’s where I reconnect, reflect, and recharge so I can show up fully for the people I serve.

Outside of work, my heart belongs to my family, our adventures, and our dogs. I love camping, hiking, and exploring places that feel untouched. Those moments remind me of life’s simplicities, and they inspire me to help others find their own sense of peace, purpose, and connection.

At Transcend Revival, my mission is to meet every person exactly where they are—honoring their story, empowering their strengths, and supporting the parts of them that feel tired or uncertain. Through Reiki I aim to create a space where healing feels accessible and hope feels possible. This work is more than my profession; it’s my purpose, and I’m honored to walk alongside anyone seeking balance, clarity, or a fresh beginning.

FAQS

What might I feel during a session?

Everyone experiences Reiki differently. Some people feel warmth, tingling, heaviness, or lightness. Others feel deeply relaxed or even fall asleep. Some feel very little in the moment but notice calmness or clarity afterward. There is no “right” experience.

Is Reiki a medical treatment?

No. Reiki is not a medical or clinical service, and it does not diagnose or treat conditions. It is a complementary, wellness-based practice meant to support relaxation and emotional balance. You should continue all medical care as recommended by your providers.

What should I wear to a Reiki session?

Wear whatever makes you comfortable. Soft, loose clothing is best so you can relax fully. Shoes are removed, but all clothing stays on

Can Reiki help with stress or anxiety?

Reiki may help you feel more grounded and relaxed, which can support emotional balance. While many people report feeling calmer after sessions, Reiki does not replace treatment for anxiety or mental health concerns. It’s a gentle complement, not a substitute.

How long does a session last?

If your session is scheduled for 60 minutes then the hands-on portion is typically 40–45 minutes, with talking time for intention-setting and grounding before and after.

Do I need to talk during the session?

Not unless you want to. Reiki works best in stillness, but I’m always here to talk before or after if you’d like to process your experience or set an intention.

How often should I schedule sessions?

There’s no set rule. Some people come weekly, others monthly, and some visit only when they feel they need a reset. You can tune into your own rhythm and comfort level.

Can Reiki be done without touching me?

Yes. Reiki can be done with hands completely off the body if you prefer. Just let me know your comfort level, and I’ll honor it fully.

Is Reiki safe during pregnancy?

Reiki is considered gentle and non-invasive. Many pregnant people enjoy the calming relaxation it brings. If you are pregnant, simply let me know so I can ensure your comfort and tailor positioning as needed.

What should I expect afterward?

Most people feel relaxed, lighter, or more grounded. Sometimes emotional release or increased clarity surfaces later in the day. Drinking water and moving gently can help your body integrate the session. Everyone’s experience is unique.

Is it safe to cry during a session?

Yes! Sometimes you may feel the urge to cry or release other emotions during a session which is absolutely okay and is common.

Reiki Only — No Medical Services

We do not diagnose, treat, or provide medical or clinical care. Reiki is a complementary wellness practice and should be used alongside—not instead of—professional medical or mental health care.

Respect for Personal Space & Comfort Levels

Reiki can be practiced with gentle touch or completely hands-off. Your boundaries will always be honored. If you prefer no physical contact, simply let me know at any time.

Confidentiality

Everything shared in session stays private. I maintain full confidentiality, except in situations where safety is legally mandated (harm to self or others).

Open Communication

You are encouraged to share any concerns, questions, or needs before, during, or after the session. Your comfort guides the work.

Cancellation Policy

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Less than 24 hours may incur a cancellation fee, as that time has been reserved specifically for you.

Scent & Sensitivities

To maintain a comfortable space for everyone, please avoid strong perfumes or fragrances before your session.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service. Accepted forms of payment can include cash, card, or digital payment apps—let me know which options you prefer listed.

Personal Boundaries

Reiki is conducted in a professional, safe environment. Any inappropriate behavior or requests will result in the immediate end of the session.

PAYMENTS AND CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations require 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations or no-shows are subject to a fee.

Sessions will end at the originally scheduled time to respect the next client.
